Sense and SensibilityHaving seen our June 2023 production of Jane Austen's much-loved classic, adapted for the stage by Jessica Swale, Vince Francis wrote: "...I enjoyed this production enormously and have no hesitation in saying that it’s well worth a look, even if you’re not an Austen aficionado... Ben Clare’s direction is crisp and considered, pushing the action along at pace. The cast draw every ounce from their characters and the humour certainly helps to engage..." | Reviews of previous productionsThe Last of the Haussmans, reviewed by Steve Mackrell : "...the play provided a great evening’s entertainment in SW15...it’s Chekhov’s angst meets Ayckbourn’s middle class values...great fun and certainly worth a visit." Any theatre revolves around its shows, and Putney Theatre Company productions range from large-cast plays to monologues. We stage about 12 main productions a year and our range is wide, entertaining and challenging. Recent productions have included works by Shakespeare, Chekhov, Alan Bennett, Nina Raine, Tom Stoppard, Vicky Jones and Lucy Prebble to name just a few. We aim to produce a diverse range of theatre – we don't only play the classics. Putney Theatre Company actively supports new writing, and often stages plays by relatively unknown writers – with much success. We also provide a showcase for our own members’ writing: members’ plays are regularly performed, and several have gone on to be published and performed elsewhere. Next productions
